About

Hi, I'm Roy.

A Computer Science student at De Anza College, developing my skills in software engineering.

What I'm working toward

I moved from Peru to the United States in October 2022. Today I study Computer Science at De Anza College, in California. My goal is to become a software engineer. I'm interested in web applications, backend services, and cloud automation, especially the small decisions that help systems behave predictably.

How I learn

I use AI assistants while building. The visual design and implementation of this portfolio were developed with AI assistance. My technical learning labs are being reviewed before their public case studies are released. I am practicing how to explain their behavior, examine the tests, and make changes myself. An assisted prototype is a starting point for that work.

My goal for each case is to document a concrete problem, a design decision, an executable example, and its limitations. The browser examples use synthetic data and do not connect to private business systems.

Earlier work in Lima

My earlier roles included a software development internship at Canvia, systems design and development internships at System Solution, and IT support work at IT Storage and Global Perlas Car. That work involved inventory applications, AS400 screens and queries, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Before my studies in California, I studied Information Systems Development at Misioneros Monfortianos in Lima from 2019 to 2021. I began studying at De Anza College in 2024 and am currently studying Computer Science.

What I want to build toward

I want to contribute to a software team and grow into owning useful features and products. My background in support keeps me interested in practical problems, clear feedback, and systems people can rely on.

Earlier projects

My GitHub includes Java fundamentals, small JavaScript applications, and an early Spring Boot project. Their maturity varies; the repository documentation describes what exists today.

Let's compare notes

I welcome focused technical feedback, learning communities, and conversations with engineers building useful software.
